| The Morgan State University Marching
Band is the best-known and widely popular band at Morgan State University.
Most commonly referred to as the Magnificent Marching Machine,
the band consists of 160 university students and has performed at
many national, regional, and local engagements.
Under the direction of Mr. Melvin N. Miles Jr., this band has dazzled and excited audiences during performances
at MSU football games, National Football League Championship and
regular season games, Canadian Football League games, Presidential Inaugurations, World
Series Games, and local television appearances. The "Magnificent
Marching Machine" most recently performed in Bermuda at the
Bermuda Day celebration. In addition, the “Magnificent Marching
Machine” performed at the Baltimore Ravens Inaugural Football
Game. You can check the band out in its movie debut in Head of State,
which stars Chris Rock.
Accomplishments:
- Four Governor Citations for outstanding performances
- Invited two years in a row by the Bermuda Government to perform
as the Premiere Performance Ensemble in its Bermuda Day Parade
- Premiere Performance Ensemble for Thirty years in New York’s
African-American Day Parade
- Key to the City of Woonsocket, Rhode Island for Outstanding
Performance in Autumn Fest Parade
